Hangout Disable/Enable Transparent UI

If you are on the same versions as me, then you should be good.
chrome://help/
Chrome: Version 48.0.2564.116 m (64-bit)
chrome://extensions/
Hangouts: 2016.205.418.1

You may have to clear the cache and reinstall the extension in case something went wrong.
From Chrome, close all tabs and then open the extensions: chrome://extensions/
Remove both (if you have both installed) Hangouts extensions (Trash can icon)
Disable all other extensions.
Clear Chrome "cached images and data", and "cookies" from chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
Logout of Chrome: chrome://settings/  'Sign In" --> "Disconnect your Google Account"
Close Chrome.
Now restart Chrome, and sign into your account.
Then go to the app store and install Hangouts extensions (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/Hangouts?hl=en-US)

Then restart Chrome
Try to load Hangouts, and check Options and when you scroll down you should have the option to "Disable/Enable Transparent UI".
